Leacock's - Rainwater Medium Dry
Enhance The Flavours Of The Season
Author suggests specific wines for the holiday season. Founded in 1811, Blandy's is the only firm, still in the hands of the original family. Its $22 five-year-old Bual, dark and medium rich, is well suited for dessert. The three-year-old Duke of Clarence, full-bodied and softly textured for $19, is in the richest style. Leacock's Rainwater, $10 the half-bottle, light and medium-dry, could be served before dinner.

Leacock's - Rainwater Medium Dry
"On the lighter, fresher side of Madeira, with cadied citrus flavors edging out honey and nut notes. Ends with a smoky, citrusy tang. Imported by Premium Port Wines, Inc."

Leacock's - 10 Year Old Bual
"Less nutty than other Madeiras despite being 10 years of age, this Bual has a striking bouquet that includes notes of fresh orange marmalade. Silky and smooth in the mouth, with a long, tangy finish. Imported by Premium Port Wines, Inc."

Leacock's - 10 Year Old Bual
“The aroma is fresh combined with almond, sultanas and penicillin. It is broad on the palate, oxidized, and slightly sugar-sweet with tones of sultanas, apricots, roasted almonds and burnt sugar. Straight forward, uncomplicated Madeira with burnt sugar and nuts. Very Good”.

Leacock's - 10 Year Old Bual
“Nuanced bual aroma with good deepness and tones of oak, walnuts, cheese and toffee. Medium- bodied, sweet, long, and smooth on the palate with nice nuance, balanced acidity and long, warm, oaky and articulated finish. Well worth its price”.

Leacock's 1914 - Bual
A lifted almost citrus nose that reminds me of the Rutherford. Hazelnut, almond and a touch of cut grass. Sharp entry, very good acidity with orange peel, marmalade, fig and apricot. Quite complex. It does have a certain pepperiness. Has a lightness that I find appealing.

Leacock's 1934 - Bual
A deep amber hue. A walnut, burnt sugar, figgy nose that lacks a little complexity, though is more focused and cleaner than the 1966. A very sweet entry followed by an untamed, very sweet hazelnut, mushroomy palate and a toffee-ish finish. Very alcoholic on the finish - I think this needs more time.

Leacock's 1963 - Sercial
This just might be the very driest Sercial I’ve ever tasted. Huge concentration, deep and rich flavors and excellent mid palate depth with salinity, leather and the finish lasts forever. Great acidity which attacks the salivary glands in a take no prisoners death grip. Outstanding!
